Photography Instruction
Background
My background is in structural engineering. Before moving to Houston Texas from Vancouver, I spent 20 years teaching structural design, mathematics, and calculus to Engineering students at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, in Burnaby, British Columbia. While in the U.S., I combined both my love of teaching and passion for photography. My technical background, teaching experience and love of photography have given me the skills needed to be an engaging, enthusiastic and very effective photography instructor.
Location
I am now located back home in Coquitlam B.C., a suburb of Vancouver. Please come and join me for a one to one or small group class. Or if you are not located in Vancouver, we can set up a Skype session. Please drop me a note and I can discuss times and places with you.
Fees
I charge an hourly rate. All sessions are two hours minimum. They can be tailored to suit your needs and experience. $60 CAD/hour/person, or $50 USD. Fees can be paid by cash, cheque or PayPal.
Types of Classes
I teach a variety of hands-on classes. My philosophy is that you learn by doing, not by observing. Simple explanations of concepts, clear and complete lesson notes and in-depth instruction accompany every class. Whenever possible, we will be out on location, so you can practice techniques and ask questions during your class. For Skype sessions, I like to break the lesson into smaller modules which are spread out over several days. This will give you time to experiment between each module.
